These are the actual tuition and fees for the 2009-2010 year as set by the Regents of the University of Michigan in June 2009. Full- and part-time tuition and fees for all U-M Schools and Colleges are available from the Office of the Registrar.
D1 Instruments Fee includes a $400 deposit.
Living Expenses include room and board (rent, security deposit, utilities, groceries, and restaurant/carry-out expenses) and personal/miscellaneous expenses. The Office of Financial Aid's estimated budget allows about $98 a week for personal/miscellaneous expenses such as long distance phone calls, extracurricular activities, personal hygiene items, etc. This figure also includes $2,350 for the purchase of student health insurance.
Budgets will be increased by the amount of loan fees deducted from your Federal Direct Loans.

Note: Federal College Work-Study and Michigan Work-Study awards are offered to only an extremely small number of D.D.S. students each year. Because it is very difficult for D.D.S. students to work while completing their studies, prior approval must be given. Awards are earned by working for eligible employers on- and off-campus. Awards are need-based and students must be enrolled full-time in a degree program. Restrictions apply and very limited funding is available.
Eligibility: Student must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen of the U.S. as defined by the U.S. Department of Education and must be enrolled in a program leading to a degree or certificate in order to qualify for all aid programs.
Federal Direct Stafford Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized): The combined borrowing maximums for Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct Loans is $40,500/year (only $8,500 of this can be Subsidized Loan). Cumulative loan debt is $224,000 (only $65,500 of this can be Subsidized Loan)--limit includes Direct Loans received as an undergraduate).
